It’s been a fantastic couple of years. I’ve learned so much about rural libraries and being part of a consortium. Plus I’ve had opportunities to learn about the administrative side and dealing with budget/finance departments. I worked on so many great teams — website redesign, eBooks grant, tons of training — the last day was a rough one. Working in such close proximity with people, well, they quickly become your friends and not just co-workers.
I will miss…
My co-workers and everyone I’ve worked with in Pinal.
My huge desk and my huge computer monitors.
My projects. I’m the first person to be in this position so all of the projects are mine. They’re my babies and now I have to let them go. 
Seeing wild animals on my drive to work.
Time to listen to audiobooks on my commute.
Having dinner ready for me when I get home — I won’t have the commute as an excuse to not cook…
The awesome sunsets I see on the drive home.
Having a Circle K right across the street.
All those gadgets.
I will not miss…
The long commute. A lot goes into this — I will have hours of time available to me now that was spent driving. Maybe I’ll spend some of that time exercising while listening to audio books…maybe.
Having to stop for gas 2-3 times a week. Talk about a time & money suck.
The sun in my eyes while driving to and from work.
Seeing random dead animals on the side of the road — including dogs, coyotes, bunnies, cows, sheep, and horses.
Sitting in a stuffy corner with no window.
The terrible email system the county uses.
So my position in Pinal is open (and posted!). If you know anyone out there interested in social media and technologies (and readers advisory) in libraries be sure to tell them about it! I think the job description says experience professional librarian experience is necessary — I had just graduated from library school when I got the job!
